Writing Workshops
Are you a parent homeschooling? School administrator planning your organization’s guest workshop slate? We offer customizable writing workshops one-on-one, in small groups, or for entire schools that will keep your students having fun and learning in the following areas:
Middle School Writing Workshop - This class covers essay structure, expository writing, narrative, and creative writing, with an emphasis on pro/con, cause/effect, compare/contrast, persuasive, and narrative essays, as well as poetry and short stories.
Screenwriting (13+) - This class introduces students to the art of screenwriting, with an emphasis on format, structure, theme, character, dialogue, genre, and more. By reading and analyzing real, produced screenplays and writing in and out of class, students will learn how to write their own screenplays in a fun, creative, and engaging atmosphere.
Poetry - Middle / High School - This class takes students on a tour of classic and contemporary poetry, from the 16th century to the 21st, analyzing the works of iconic poets such as Shakespeare, Emily Dickinson, and Langston Hughes, as well as the work of today’s most exciting poets. Students will analyze these works, building their understanding of various types of poetry and writing their own.
Play Analysis - Middle / High School - This class examines important plays of the last century. From classics like A Raisin in the Sun, The Crucible, and The Glass Menagerie to recent works like Rabbit Hole and School Girls; or, the African Mean Girls Play, students will explore history and culture through the theatrical lens.
